ABOUT ME: Hallo, Servus, and welcome to my channel! My name is Felicia (Feli), I'm 30 years old, and I'm a German living in the USA! I was born and raised in Munich, Germany but have been living in Cincinnati, Ohio off and on since 2016. I first came here for an exchange semester during my undergrad at LMU Munich, then I returned for an internship, and then I got my master's degree in Cincinnati. I was lucky enough to win the Green Card lottery and have been a permanent resident since 2019! In my videos, I talk about cultural differences between America and Germany, things I like and dislike about living here, and other topics I come across in my everyday life in the States. Let me know what YOU would like to hear about in the comments below. DANKE :)

    Nazis were treated with silk gloves pretty much everywhere. There is a whole dark history of Nazis holding powerful positions after WW2, most notably in NATO, and the most known case, Kurt Waldheim in the UN. The whole history of Europe is like a dumpster fire and the WW1 started it. From the point of ordinary underling, Europe does not look all that civilized after all.

    Something goffy is that Germany only uses the 3rd Stanza in the national anthem because the first is very authoritarian, "Deutschland, Deutschland, über alles" and the Second is about beer, wine, and women.

    The "Hitler salute" did not originate in Germany. It originated in ancient Rome, and Mussolini used it which is what caught Hitler's eye. I would not suggest using it. It is carrying too much baggage right now.

    If Germany and other European countries do not give better aid to Ukraine and spend more money and manpower on their own defense forces, the USA will be forced to spend the lives of another generation of American young men and women to save the lives of Europeans who do not take prudent action to defend themselves. Europeans spend too much of their resources on living "the good life" and look down their noses at the living conditions of Americans who will come again to save European lives and leave American gravestones again in European fields.

    In the United States the mortgage interest tax deduction is a huge incentive for home ownership. I am currently in my second home I've owned and it won't be the last. I think this is by design, as the home builder industry is a very powerful lobbying group here.

    There are mass shootings and bombings in Europe in spite of restrictive gun laws because criminals don't obey the law and buses, trucks and knives are used in mass attacks. A gun carrier in the USA will probably stop a malign shooter before the police can even arrive on the scene of the shooting. Thus, well intentioned gun carriers save lives by being on the scene before police and acting very fast to stop the crime. How many people were killed in the Beer Hall Putsch and why was Hitler released from prison so soon after his participation in that shooting??? Why was he ever allowed to run for public office after his violent involvement??? How many innocent women and children were killed in the gas chambers or as a result of wartime bombing??? American soldiers helped to win the war because they were proficient with guns like Audie Murphy or Sargeant York, who was actually against World War I.

    My take on this, nude men are absolutely disgusting, nude women are beautiful if they are in good shape. The male genitalia is disgusting to look at and should definitely be banned from public display. The statue of David is obscene.

    I was born in the early 50's, there was still a lot of anger and resentment against Germany among my partents and my aunts and uncles. My mom and dad used to talk about Hitler and his monsterous acts. I've often wondered how the citizens of Germany could be driven to perform such monsterous acts of cruely and murder. It's something I've neve been able to quite wrap my head around but Germany wasn't alone in performing these atrocitiess, the Japanese murdered millions of innocent Chinese citizens and tortured and murdered thousands of American soldiers who were their prisoners of war. Personally I don't harbor any dislike or animosity toward the Germans or Japanese and both countries are on my bucket list to see before I leave this planet.

    "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed"... when's the last time you heard of a militia meeting? no one's interested in that part of the amendment.

    • @fredjrpearce1247
      @fredjrpearce1247 4 години тому

      Does it say the right of the militia to keep and bear arms? No. The right of the people, the people, the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. Able-bodied adult men were the militia.

    • @Anon54387
      @Anon54387 3 години тому

      Like Fred said, it does not say the right of the militia. Think about this logically. It's in the Bill of Rights. It's referred to as a right in the 2A itself. If one had to be in a militia it'd be a privilege. Then there's the history. The English Bill of Rights of 1689 says there is a right to such arms allowed by law. The Americans saw this was wide open for abuse of the right by government (simply outlaw all arms) so they changed it to shall not be infringed. Then there's grammar. A well informed Congress, being necessary to the wise operation of government, the right of the people to own and read books, shall not be infringed. Do only the members of Congress have the right to books or all of the people?

    #4 - gun lobby and the NRA direct huge amounts of money to politicians. politicians feel they need and deserve this money. and are therefore not interested in controlling guns. there are more members of Planet Fitness than there are members of the national rifle association and yet look at the huge influence they have on our lives.

    • @Anon54387
      @Anon54387 3 години тому

      There are other gun rights organizations aside from the NRA, and the NRA is actually not very pro-2A. Also, it's the sheer number of gun owners in the USA that the clout comes from. At least 80 million Americans own guns.

    reason our healthcare is the way it is. is because we have made it a for-profit business. it's nearly impossible to wrestle it back from the powerful companies that are making money. imagine if police protection or fire protection was a for-profit business.

    • @Anon54387
      @Anon54387 3 години тому

      Nope, it's because of government. We need to get government out of health care, but ObamaCare was a step in the wrong direction. Since you are a fan of government, and we need food far before and far more often than we need health care, let's stop farming being a for profit business and have government do that as well. Government owned farm have worked wonderfully wherever that's been tried.

    I’m surprised that there was no mention of the anti-smoking laws that originated under the Third Reich. Hitler found smoking to be abhorrent, and he’s far from the only historical figure to do so. One of my history textbooks from either middle school or high school quoted a king from the 17th century, who called tobacco, “hateful to the nose, harmful to the brain, and dangerous to the lungs.” I’m not sure who said that or what nationality they were, but I think it was an English king who said that about tobacco. Of course, his words fell on deaf ears.

    Visiting Germany is nothing special, for living 10 minutes driving from the border. But in 2 weeks I'm heading for my primary school reunion near Han(n)over. Which is quite exciting, after 37 years. Combining it with visiting the Kaiser Wilhelm Denkmal in Porta Westfalica and maybe Steinhuder Meer, 2 of my most memorable places from my Germany years (1977-1987). 🤓
